TAX DEDUCTIONS UP TO 55% FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO HEATING SYSTEMS

On 27 January 2009 the Italian Parliament passed a bill (DDL no. 1315) converting into law Decree no. 185 of 29 November 2008, a collection of measures against the economic crisis. The measures include income tax deductions of up to 55% for expenditures made on reducing energy consumptions, improving the heat insulation of buildings, installing solar panels and replacing winter air-conditioning systems.
All expenses paid for energy-saving purposes are eligible for tax deductions prior notification to the Agenzia delle Entrate (Italian Revenue Agency) and ENEA (Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and the Environment). The gross tax deduction poses no limit to the expenses made and is divided into 5 equal annual instalments for the expenditures sustained in 2009 and 2010.
